What is Responsive Design?

You hear this a lot, right? Something called “responsive design”.

This is a design style that started in 2010. To put it simply, responsive design is just website elements like pictures and text getting reshaped according to the screen width of your device. Be it laptops, tablets, or smartphones, it doesn’t matter. Thanks to responsive design, designs can be created independent of platforms.

Let’s illustrate: When you visit a website on your mobile device, the entire design changes compared to a desktop view. The menu shrinks to adapt to your phone screen, and becomes visible only when touched. The fonts also shrink according to your screen structure. The visuals stretch based the screen resolution, and are displayed appropriately.

Meaning, the design responds to your device. This is essentially what responsive design is about!
